Annual Alumni Varsity Game & BBQ: November 3, 2007 @ 2:00 PM
Despite the cold weather, the Alumni Varsity Soccer Game was a rousing success! Nearly 30 former SIA soccer stars came to compete, with an additional 20 alumni in the stands, not to mention parents, faculty and friends. The Varsity squad (who borrowed some of the more recent alumni to round out their team) gave it their all, but experience won out over youth once again. The alumni won in a 5-1 rout of the student-athletes! Scoring for the alumni team were Nico Brusco ’87, Peter C. Rapp ’91 (two goals), Houshyar Alishahi ’82 and Adam Rosen ’02. Rosen, Alishahi and Nick Sisock ’03 also helped out with assists. The lone goal scored by the varsity team was at the hands (er, feet) of Omar Alwani ’06. Young Alumni Basketball & Pizza : November 23, 2007 @ 11:00 AM
In the Young Alumni Basketball Game, Coach Mike Mazella ’91 played and then refereed a rousing game between the varsity team and a group of young alumni. The alumni team may have been out of practice, but it did have two “1000-point career scorers” in Hansae Catlett ’07 and Ben Lenning ’07. Although the varsity team led for most of the game, the alumni squad came back from behind and emerged victorious.

Mid-Winter Alumni Gathering: February 1, 2008 @ 6:30 PM
BAYARD's, NY
Academy alumni from 1960 through 2004 attended this year's Alumni Mid-Winter Gathering, sharing laughs and stories over fine food and drinks. The Class of '02 had the most impressive showing, with 12 alumni at the event! Stuart Friedland '65 traveled the furthest - all the way from California - to take part in the festivities. Stuart spoke to the attendees about how important alumni participation is and about a (non-SIA) project he's working on, collecting and disseminating weird and wild tales of extraordinary coincidences.

Faculty in attendance included Pete Rapp '64, Jamie Savino Killeen '94, Mike Mazella '90, Frank Crane, Mike Acquilano, Eileen Corigliano, Don Knies, Ethan Pennington and Sue Puttick, as well as Head of School Diane Hulse and former faculty members Caroline Crane '83 and Marilyn Kiss. Nobody seemed to want to leave the event; most continued to hang out and catch up on old times, long after the last hors d'oeuvres had been polished off.

Alumni Reunion Day: May 17, 2008 @ 12:00 PM
Alumni representing 50 years of Staten Island Academy history enjoyed a beautiful spring day as they celebrated Alumni Reunion 2008! Attendees watched a slideshow with photos from their time at SIA, toured the campus with student volunteers and were treated to a preview performance of The Wizard of Oz. As alumni dined on some delicious barbecue, they reminisced about the old days and filled each other in on their lives since graduating from SIA (or at least since their last reunion). A fantastic time was had by all!
