WAYS OF GIVING
Frequently Asked Questions about the Academy’s
Annual Fund
Why is the Annual Fund so important?
The Annual Fund supports the school by providing annual gifts that provide
unrestricted support. This allows the Academy to put annual fund dollars
to use where they are needed the most.
How does the Annual Fund benefit my family?
Gifts to the Academy’s Annual Fund
- Help the Academy to maintain small
class sizes
- Enhance innovative curriculum and programs
- Maintain the Academy’s 12-acre campus and facilities
- Enrich athletics, the arts and extracurricular programs
I pay tuition, why do I need to contribute to annual
giving?
Independent schools like Staten Island Academy depend on annual gifts
from parents, alumni, trustees, faculty and friends to help cover the
shortfall between tuition dollars and the actual cost of educating each
student. In addition, when the Academy is under consideration for grants
from foundations, the level of community participation in annual giving
plays an important role. Foundations believe in helping schools with committed
communities who support fundraising.
Are my gifts tax-deductible?
Staten Island Academy is registered with the Internal Revenue Service
as a 501c3 Nonprofit, which means that gifts to the school are tax-deductible
as allowable by law.
Can I designate my gift to a specific area?
Yes, you can designate your Annual Fund gift to support a specific area.
Those areas include the arts, athletics, campus and facilities, curriculum
development, faculty, financial aid, technology, the library, honorariums,
and Head of School initiatives.
